Today’s Project Spotlight comes to us from Phoenix Arizona. With inspiration from Spanish colonial and Mediterranean influences, George Christensen is considered one of the icons of Arizonan architecture. George’s work often is Latin leaning which comes from his work in South America. His design of this timeless home highlights some of his most signature touches.

Located in Arcadia, this sprawling property holds a 12,000 square foot main house, 3,500 guest house, 1,500 square foot gym, and a 900 square foot office.

The excellent use of lighting is highlighted in the Master Bedroom with it’s picturesque windows looking out into the 5 acre property. The many large and thoughtfully located windows and lighting features bring in much of that always glowing Arizona daylight. The home may not come with Gordon Ramsay but you can certainly try to cook like him with the La Cornue and Viking appliances in the spacious Kitchen. The wood-beamed varied-height ceilings adds to the historic feel of this home. Add that to the game room’s domed ceiling and you can see the adobe style influence that is a staple in George Christensen’s architecture.

Perhaps the best place to relax is in the backyard with it’s canal-like water feature. A soothing water flow calms the mind as you look out into the sunset-lit mountains. There is not a shortage of things to enjoy as you can take a dip in the sparkling pool, lounge among the multiple courtyards, or take a walk through the citrus orchards. A property assistant stays in the caretaker cottage tending to the 2 acres of citrus orchards, one of the last of it’s kind in Arcadia.

The simple yet thoughtful design features come together as one to complete this beautifully designed Arcadia home.
